UDHS - Extra Duty Position - Boys' Swim Coach

Job Summary
Conduct daily practice sessions, skills drills, and character development for the boys' swim team while managing team equipment and maintaining current scorebooks. Evaluate player skills to select rosters, monitor academic progress, and provide regular communication with student-athletes and parents. Enforce the CCS Student Code of Character, report injuries to the athletic trainer, and address concerns regarding facilities, transportation, or student behavior. Collaborate with assistant coaches and administrators, attend all meetings, and ensure compliance with PIAA and league rules. Maintain confidentiality of student records and uphold professional ethical principles.
Required Qualifications
- Prior successful coaching experience, preferably at the high school and/or college level
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- A strong character with a team-oriented spirit, and the ability to connect meaningfully with students throughout our diverse community
- Considerable knowledge of and experience coaching that sport, including competitions, practices, and strength/conditioning
- Effective verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to organize and prioritize work
- High school or collegiate playing experience
- Experience working with middle and high school-aged students
- A positive student-centered approach to coaching
- Demonstrated technical, theoretical, and applied knowledge pertinent to the assigned sport
- CPR and first aid certified or the ability to become certified
- Strong affinity for the mission of Upper Darby School District and an educational philosophy consistent with the school's mission and values
- Knowledge of basic computer operations
- Criminal Background Clearance (Act 34)
- Child Abuse Clearance (Act 151)
- FBI Fingerprint Clearance (Act 114)
- Meets criteria for employment in a PA Public School
- Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to bend, stoop, climb stairs, and reach overhead
- Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
Desired Qualifications
- Master's degree preferred
