Job Summary

UAV Engineer role designing, developing, and deploying munitions-focused AI/ML and autonomy solutions using UAV technology; work on embedded AI for Automated Target Recognition for lethality optimization; contribute to design, construction, and testing of UAV systems within the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Indian Head Division, MD; requires a B.S. in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, 3+ years in drone/aerospace design, proficiency in C++ and Python, UAV hardware/software knowledge, AI/ML for autonomous real-time decisions, travel, and US citizenship with DoD clearance eligibility.

Required Qualifications

  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or similar preferred
  • 3+ years of experience in drone or aerospace system design and development
  • Job experience with Navy or DoD is a plus
  • Strong programming skills (C++, Python)
  • Knowledge of aerodynamics, materials, and mechanical systems
  • Familiar with UAV hardware, software and communication protocols
  • Object-oriented programming and design, development, and testing
  • Experience with AI/ML algorithms for autonomous and real-time decision-making for UAV swarms
  • Experience with analysis and weekly report writing
  • MS Office skills (Word, PowerPoint, Adobe Pro)
  • Excellent verbal/written communications and attention to detail
  • Some minimal travel
  • US citizenship with ability to obtain/maintain DoD clearance
