Job Summary
Lending Specialist in the U.S. Private Bank advises clients on capital structures and delivers tailored credit solutions. Responsibilities include participating in pitches to existing and prospective clients, analyzing the book to uncover new opportunities, maintaining ongoing dialogue with borrowing clients, advising, negotiating and executing loan structures, structuring financing within risk parameters and policies, maintaining a quality credit book with proactive client communication, addressing credit issues (e.g., missed margin calls, legal documentation), and liaising with Credit Risk to ensure favorable underwriting outcomes consistent with the firm’s policy. Requires a bachelor’s degree (MBA asset), Series 7 & 66 licenses (or ability to obtain within 90 days), and five-plus years of credit risk experience, plus deep knowledge of bank loan products, wealth management concepts, and related credit/derivative transactions. Preferred knowledge includes capital markets, loan-closing procedures, credit administration, and sales competencies such as profiling, overcoming objections, negotiation, and referrals.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor degree; MBA will be considered an asset
- Series 7 & 66 licenses required for position; unlicensed candidates considered, but required to obtain licenses within 90 days of start date
- Five plus years of credit risk experience, ideally in the financial services industry
- In-depth knowledge of bank loan, deposit, mortgage and credit products
- Ability to understand the overall credit capabilities and risk management philosophy of the firm
- Ability to understand wealth management including, but not limited to: investing, trust and financial planning
- Experience with banking concepts including, but not limited to: marketable secured lending, investment real estate loans, concentrated collateral loans, aircraft lending, owner-occupied commercial real estate and bridge loans
