Job Summary
Oversee and provide quality control for corrosion control work, interfacing with government, shipyard, and contractor maintenance activities. Work directly with US Navy ship leadership, personnel, and program leadership to execute corrosion prevention and control tasks. Perform field investigations of corrosion phenomena, conduct research and testing of materials, and develop specifications. This role involves approximately 2-8 years of desired experience in the corrosion control field or Military Sealift Command experience. Candidates must hold AMPP Senior Certified Coatings Inspector certification or equivalent with a willingness to obtain it. The position offers a salary range of $20.00-$60.00/hour based on experience and certifications, with overtime opportunities and a schedule potentially extending to 7 days/week. Located in Charleston, SC, Elzly is a 100% employee-owned consulting-engineering firm providing technical services for corrosion prevention and control.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- related military experience
- completion of trade/industrial school
- trade experience
- Association for Materials Protection and Performance (AMPP) Senior Certified Coatings Inspector (formerly NACE CIP Level III with peer review)
- Association for Materials Protection and Performance (AMPP) Basic or Certified Coatings Inspector (formerly NACE CIP Level I or II)
- willingness/ability to obtain Senior Certified Coatings Inspector level
- approximately 2-8 years of experience
- Military Sealift Command (MSC) experience
- experience in the corrosion control field
- experience overseeing and providing quality control for corrosion control work
