Job Summary
Senior U.S. Federal Government Relations Director for Bentley Systems. Develop and drive an enterprise-wide advocacy strategy to influence federal legislation, regulations, appropriations, and policy priorities supporting digital infrastructure technologies, AI adoption, permitting reform, and advanced engineering software. Build and maintain high-level relationships with Members of Congress, congressional staff, and federal agencies (e.g., DOT, FHWA, USACE, EPA, DOE, OMB). Monitor and influence federal policy developments, coordinate with industry coalitions, provide strategic counsel to executive leadership, and prepare policy materials and testimony. Role involves cross-functional collaboration with public sector sales, policy, and communications, plus travel (10-15%). Requires a bachelor’s degree and 10-15 years of relevant experience; advanced degree preferred; hybrid work near Washington, DC, or fully remote within the US.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required
- 10-15 years of relevant experience in federal government relations, public policy, or advocacy
- Experience creating and carrying out an effective Federal Government advocacy campaign
- Proven track record of building relationships on Capitol Hill and with federal agencies
- Experience advocating for technology adoption in government (e.g., SaaS/cloud solutions, digital twins, AI in engineering, cybersecurity standards)
- Familiarity with federal infrastructure programs (IIJA, NEPA, Buy American, FedRAMP)
Desired Qualifications
- Advanced degree (JD, MPP, MBA, or similar) preferred
- 10-15 years of relevant experience in federal government relations, public policy, or advocacy
- Experience creating and carrying out a Federal Government advocacy campaign
- Proven relationships on Capitol Hill and with federal agencies
- Experience advocating for technology adoption in government (SaaS/cloud, digital twins, AI in engineering, cybersecurity standards)
- Familiarity with federal infrastructure programs (IIJA, NEPA, Buy American, FedRAMP) and current policy debates
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; ability to draft policy materials and congressional correspondence
- Strong strategic thinking and political acumen
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment
