Job Summary
Architect, design and build scalable backend systems for Coupang's affiliate and marketing platforms, collaborating closely with Product and tech teams in China and Korea to drive customer acquisition, experience, conversion and retention. Establish and execute short- and long-term architectural roadmaps for the business, and drive continuous improvement to ensure platform efficiency, reliability and high availability. This role requires leading a team of engineers (10+ years of experience in software development and leadership), strong Java and distributed-systems skills, knowledge of container/microservice deployments (Kubernetes, Docker), and familiarity with monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana). The candidate should be able to work with global distributed teams, communicate in fluent English, and contribute to architecture decisions for high-concurrency, high-availability systems within eCommerce and advertising-related platforms.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor/Master/PhD in Computer Science or Engineering, or equivalent
- 10+ years of industry experience leading a group of engineers
- 5+ years of experience in software development in large distributed systems, web services and Java
- Knowledge of container and microservice deployment technology, such as Kubernetes、Docker
- familiar with monitoring tools, such as Prometheus、Grafana
- Experience in designing and implementing high-concurrency, high-availability, and high-scalability systems
- Familiar with distributed system architecture, microservice architecture and design, and message queue, cache, database core backend knowledge
- Growth mindset, company-wide perspective. Focus on business problem solving, and data-driven
- Strong competency in delivering results in an environment of rapidly changing requirements with appropriate trade-offs
- Strong sense of ownership, urgency, and dive deep
- Experience working closely with global distributed teams
- Fluent English communication
