Job Summary
Host weekly individual tutoring sessions with 18 youth on caseload, traveling between Bronx, Manhattan, Queens, and Brooklyn sites to meet students at least twice monthly. Create culturally competent, academically rigorous session plans by reviewing IEPs and content, while documenting progress and communicating regularly with caregivers, stakeholders, and staff. Advocate for resources and programs not currently offered, guiding youth through high school and college applications to sustain academic potential. Attend professional development, case reviews, and departmental meetings to refine tutoring techniques and ensure holistic support for foster care students.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree
- Bilingual in English/Spanish
- 1-2 years experience working directly with students in a school or extracurricular or community based setting
- Experience working with younger youth, specifically students in kindergarten through 2nd grade
- Ability to tutor multiple courses including core academic subjects and remedial skill building
- Ability to travel across multiple boroughs (Bronx, Manhattan, Queens, and Brooklyn) for in-person tutoring sessions
- Valid driver's license and access to a reliable car
- Demonstrated strong commitment to safety
- Bachelor's Degree from a U.S. accredited educational institution or Credential Evaluation for a non-U.S. educational institution
