Job Summary
Facilitate small group instruction and provide one-on-one homework support to students in a safe, nurturing environment. Prepare and supervise after-school activities, implement enrichment programs like clubs and sports, and deliver instructional materials while maintaining classroom readiness. Redirect inappropriate behaviors, monitor student progress, and report concerns to the coordinator. Maintain accurate records including attendance and incident reports, and assist with student snack distribution. Participate in required professional development and establish positive relations with students and parents. This part-time role aligns with PUC Schools' mission to increase graduation rates for underserved students in North-East Los Angeles and the San Fernando Valley.
Required Qualifications
- High School degree or GED
- Prior experience working with students in a learning environment, or be an education student working towards a teaching credential
- Proficient with Microsoft Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
- Must be flexible and team-oriented
- Able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Strong work ethic, accountability, and ownership of work
- Regular attendance, dependability, and punctuality in conformance with the standards
- Able to kneel, climb and reach with hands and arms above shoulder level
- Able to lift up to 30 pounds
- Able to bend, sit, stand, squat, stoop, walk, push, pull, and reach with hands and arms at shoulder level or below
- Able to wear the appropriate safety equipment for the task, which may include gloves, goggles, aprons, belts, etc.
Desired Qualifications
- AA or higher
- Bilingual in Spanish
