Job Summary

Tutor students individually or in groups on a one-on-one basis, providing assistance in subject disciplines, college study skills, and Learning Lab resources. Organize supplemental learning materials and lead study groups while delivering feedback on student progress and performance. May assist with research, development, and evaluation of specialized tutoring services and resources. Maintain confidentiality of student information and establish effective working relationships with students, faculty, and co-workers in a multicultural learning lab environment.

Required Qualifications

  • Domicile in the State of Texas
  • Required knowledge and skills to explain and demonstrate essential job functions
  • Tutoring techniques, standards, and supplemental learning materials knowledge
  • Learning Lab services knowledge
  • Processes and resources for organizing and leading study groups knowledge
  • Maintaining an established work schedule
  • Maintaining confidentiality of work-related information and materials
  • Interpersonal and communications skills including tact, patience, and diplomacy
  • Organizational and planning skills with attention to detail and follow-through
  • Understanding and following instructions precisely
  • Ability to provide quality tutorial services to groups and individuals
  • Ability to provide feedback regarding student performance and/or progress
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with individuals from multicultural backgrounds
  • Ability to maintain a positive work atmosphere
  • Completed CETT-1403 course with a grade of B or higher
  • Completed CETT-1405 course with a grade of B or higher
  • Completed CETT-1425 course with a grade of B or higher
  • Recommendation from a current or former ACC professor
  • Patience and willingness to help fellow students
  • Ability to get along well with others and be a team-player
  • Flexible schedule
  • One semester related work experience
  • Degree or substantial undergraduate coursework in the discipline
  • Demonstrated competence in the subjects that will be tutored
  • Demonstrated proficiency using standard office software applications

Desired Qualifications

  • Successful completion of CETT-1429
  • Associate degree in the discipline or related field
  • At least one year related experience to the discipline
