Job Summary

Lead end-to-end fluidic design of cryogenic pumps and hot-side turbines, from preliminary sizing through detailed design and validation. Own the hydrodynamic and aerodynamic design point, off-design behavior, and the secondary flow circuits using reduced-order modeling and 3D CFD. Define and refine flow-path geometry in Siemens NX; develop blade definitions in ANSYS BladeModeler. Run CFD analyses across steady/transient, single- and multiphase, cavitating inducer flow, and rotor-stator interaction; utilize ANSYS Workbench/Fluent/CFX on Linux HPC. Develop performance predictions (NPSH margins, head-flow, efficiency curves) and assess off-design/transient behavior. Create and maintain in-house design codes and post-processing tools (Python/MATLAB/FORTRAN). Drive pre-test predictions, instrumentation strategy, and post-test correlation; reconcile CFD with measured data to improve predictive capability. Collaborate with mechanical design, manufacturing, and test to ensure buildability; produce analysis and test reports and design review packages to support program decisions.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a closely related field, with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience
  • A graduate degree with 3 years of experience is equivalent
  • PhD candidates are welcome to apply
  • Strong foundation in aerodynamics, thermodynamics, hydrodynamics, and high-speed turbomachinery
  • Experience with cavitation and NPSH analysis, rotor-stator interaction, secondary flow losses, and high-temperature turbomachinery
  • High proficiency with CFD codes (ANSYS Workbench/Fluent/CFX) and meshing tools
  • Fluency with Siemens NX and ANSYS BladeModeler
  • Programming/scripting in Python, MATLAB, or FORTRAN
  • Experience correlating CFD with test data (cold-flow, spin, hot-fire)
  • Familiarity with engine cycles and cryogenic propellants
  • Ability to produce clear analysis and test reports and present results
  • Strong English communication and multidisciplinary teamwork
