Job Summary
Turbine Controls Field Service Engineer (FSE) role supporting retrofit projects across the USA and Canada, including installation, power-up, and commissioning of turbine control solutions (MkVI, MkVIe) and TIL implementation. Responsible for warranty administration, troubleshooting, pre-planning, site scheduling, field engineering, commissioning, control-system startup, and handover to customers. Works with project managers, customers, and suppliers to ensure timely, high-quality installations, and identifies opportunities for change orders. Requires strong electrical/mechanical troubleshooting, PLC/DCS experience, HMI upgrades, and the ability to travel up to 80% domestically. Must hold a Bachelor's degree in a related field (or equivalent experience) and be able to operate in demanding field environments; responsibilities include interfacing with GE Power Services, GE Industrial, and other GE Businesses, and participating in additional duties such as FAT and development of control strategies. Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial automation or Electronic Engineering or related field from an accredited college or university or equivalent experience
- Experience with turbine control solutions (MkV, MkVI, MKVIe), HMI upgrades, and TIL implementation
- Minimum 3-5 years of field engineering experience in power generation, industrial plant automation, DCS, PLC and/or similar industry sectors
- Previous industrial field service experience
- Controls experience to equipment that functions as a prime mover
- Electronics and/or mechanical troubleshooting skills
- Familiarity with MS Office, TCP/IP configuration
- Ability to learn other software tool applications to support HMI and application changes (Cimplicity, Intellution, Toolbox, GAP, etc.)
- Eligible to travel up to 80% domestically; willingness to travel
- Ability to pass respirator fit test and physical; Fitness for Duty; site security requirements
- Ability to work 12 hrs/day and 7 days/week when needed for project delivery
- Ability to work in radiation-controlled and radioactively contaminated areas
- Has valid driver’s license and passport
- Strong communication skills in English
- Customer-focused experience in field services or project management
