Job Summary
Lead the day-to-day management of the construction site by coordinating subcontractors and labourers while executing field operations safely. Implement the Bird Safety Program, monitor safety performance, and conduct regular inspections to ensure compliance. Supervise site team members through feedback, training, and coaching to maintain positive morale and quality workmanship. Administer contracts, purchase orders, and change notices, while identifying design deficiencies and schedule interruptions to collaborate with the Project Manager on resolutions. Maintain daily paperwork including field reports and schedule updates to track progress against safety, schedule, and quality objectives.
Required Qualifications
- Experience in the installation and supervision of hydroelectric turbines and associated electrical/mechanical systems
- Demonstrated, progressive experience in General Contracting as a Superintendent in commercial and institutional construction
- Direct field supervision of large institutional or commercial projects
- P3 and Design Build experience
- Trade background in millwrighting and/or Gold Seal Certification
- Effective supervision, coordination and scheduling of construction activities to ensure consistent completion of projects on-time, on budget and to the clients' satisfaction
- Demonstrated leadership, field management and problem-solving skills
- Service and results-oriented mindset
- Ability to build and steward trust with a broad network of professional colleagues, subcontractors and team members
- Demonstrated competence in the areas of safety, workforce management, project execution, cost control, quality and administration
- Proactive problem-solving ability
- Sound knowledge of construction and building techniques
- Ability to read and interpret contract drawings and specifications
- Excellent computer skills and proficiency with MS Office including MS Project
- Experience implementing Bird Safety Program
- Experience monitoring safety performance of field staff and subcontractors
- Experience establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with field staff and subcontractors
- Experience providing regular feedback, training and coaching to site team members
- Experience conducting performance evaluations
- Experience contributing to the development and refinement of project schedules
- Experience administering contracts, subcontracts, purchase orders, site instructions and change notices
- Experience identifying and advising of design deficiencies, schedule interruptions or difficulties
- Experience monitoring and evaluating subcontractor performance with regards to safety and scope of work
- Experience ensuring quality of subcontractor workmanship and building material
- Experience ensuring sufficient manpower is provided to achieve safety, schedule and quality objectives
- Experience maintaining daily paperwork including field reports, safety inspections, schedule updates
Desired Qualifications
