Job Summary
Conduct directly observed therapy for patients with active tuberculosis in home and community settings, ensuring appropriate medication administration and personal protective equipment use. Build relationships with clients and families to foster treatment compliance while observing for adverse effects and reporting findings to public health nurses. Act as a liaison between clients and health providers, assisting with contact tracing, case investigations, and resource navigation for housing and medical care. Provide education to exposed individuals and community partners, utilizing translation services for non-English speakers, and manage laboratory specimen delivery and record retrieval. Deliver culturally appropriate services with reliable transportation, adhering to safety protocols and working Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 9:00 PM.
Required Qualifications
- One (1) year of experience working with clients in a health-related field
- A valid Driver's License accepted by the State of Utah
- Must pass a required background check through fingerprinting and enrollment in the continuous RAP Back (Record of Arrest and Prosecution Back) program
- Must obtain a valid Driver's License issued by the State of Utah within six (6) months of hire
- Must pass a two-step Tuberculosis skin test prior to starting employment
- Knowledge of Medical terminology
- Knowledge of Verbal and written communication
- Knowledge of Cultural sensitivity
- Knowledge of Universal precautions and standard health care practices and procedures
- Ability to Utilize basic interviewing techniques
- Ability to Demonstrate basic computer skills
- Ability to Communicate effectively in both English and a second language
- Ability to Follow verbal and written procedures and instructions
- Ability to Work independently
- Ability to Drive an automobile
Desired Qualifications
- Preference will be given to applicants who are able to read, write, and speak English and another language fluently
