Truss Tech Designer

Job Summary
Produce floor and roof truss placement plans, design drawings, and quotes using proprietary software while determining specifications from blueprints and structural needs. Review other designers' work in a double-check system to reduce errors before manufacturing, then create optimized shop paperwork for batch efficiency. Communicate with customers, general contractors, and sales staff regarding technical clarifications, documenting all interactions via Excel and email. Consult with component technicians and management for in-depth analysis, while planning personal work efficiency to meet daily and project productivity goals. Adhere to all safety procedures and practices to prevent injury.
Required Qualifications
- Knowledge of company products sufficient to determine appropriate structural applications
- Use of proprietary software for construction design
- Strong attention to detail
- Use of discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance
- Mathematics and measurement skills
- Knowledge of drafting, architectural design or CAD applications
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Proficiency in Mitek Software
- Ability to understand blueprints and customer requirements for specific projects
- Ability to produce floor and roof truss placement plans, truss design drawings and truss quotes
- Ability to determine design specifications based on blueprints and structural design needs
- Ability to review other designers work as part of a double check system to reduce design errors
- Ability to create shop paperwork that is optimized and batch for efficiency based on equipment used in manufacturing
- Ability to communicate with customers, general contractors, and sales staff on technical aspects of plans
- Ability to document communication with customers, architects or engineers using excel spreadsheet and saved emails
- Ability to consult with experienced component technicians and management when more in-depth analysis is required
- Ability to plan and pace own work efficiency in order to meet daily, weekly, project, or team related productivity goals
- Ability to understand and observe all safety procedures and practices in order to prevent injury to self or co-workers
- Ability to attend periodic safety meetings as required
- Ability to recommend changes to improve safety procedures
- Ability to use proprietary software to produce floor and roof truss placement plans, truss design drawings and truss quotes
Desired Qualifications
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Mitek Software preferred
