Job Summary
Utilize tools to assemble building material components, including positioning, clamping, splicing, and fitting parts according to specifications. Place metal reinforcement plates over connecting joints and connect parts using a hammer. Verify dimensions of precut parts and accuracy of assembly, then properly mark truss ID and band bunks of finished product. Operate machinery, including forklifts, for material handling and transportation while handling materials safely and ensuring proper storage. Conduct quality checks on finished products to ensure they meet established standards. Maintain and clean equipment and work area, keeping racks clear as trusses are produced. Follow all safety procedures and guidelines when operating saws and handling materials, including wearing required PPE and adhering to lock-out-tag-out procedures.
Required Qualifications
- One year truss table experience or equivalent work history
- Ability to read a measuring tape and use a hammer
- Ability to read and understand simple diagrams or blueprints
- Ability to recognize size grade and quality of material
- Ability to drive a forklift with onsite training
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Strong ability to work effectively with diverse individuals from management to floor employees
- Strong communication skills, reasoning, and mathematical skills
- Regular and punctual attendance is essential to the successful execution of this role to maintain team productivity and collaboration
- Employees are expected to adhere to the assigned work schedule
- Perform the position's physical functions with extensive mobility and ease including walking, sitting, standing, bending, talking, hearing, seeing, and using hands to operate tools necessary for the job
- This position requires frequent and repetitive lifting of 25lbs and occasional lifting or moving up to 60lbs
- Must be able to repetitively swing a hammer periodically throughout shift, involving consistent arm movement and force application
