Job Summary
Assemble precut wooden parts to build trusses and similar supports by moving parts to work areas and positioning them in jigs by hand. Place metal reinforcement plates over connecting joints to connect parts, using a hammer and pneumatic staple gun, while verifying dimensions and accuracy against blueprint specifications. Follow supervisor instructions and observe all safety procedures to prevent injury, including attending periodic safety meetings. Work within a production environment subject to temperature variations, noise, and dust, lifting up to 50 pounds frequently and 120 pounds on occasion.
Required Qualifications
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds frequently and on occasion up to 120 pounds
- May be required to perform specific tasks that involve climbing, lifting, pushing or kneeling
- Ability to read and understand simple diagrams or blueprints
- Knowledge of basic math, angles and use of measuring tools
Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge of construction tools and practices a plus
- Knowledge of safety procedures while performing lumber handling and sawing tasks
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions
