Job Summary
Lead and supervise a team of truss assemblers, providing guidance, coaching, and support to optimize performance. Read and interpret work orders, blueprints, and diagrams to understand specifications, then use hand and power tools to assemble wooden truss components accurately. Ensure precise alignment, conduct thorough inspections to maintain quality standards, and identify defects immediately. Collaborate with designers and engineers to coordinate activities, communicate production challenges, and maintain accurate records of assemblies and material usage. Adhere to all safety protocols, perform routine equipment maintenance, and report hazards. Work in an indoor manufacturing environment with flexible hours, including overtime, to accommodate production deadlines.
Required Qualifications
- Proficiency in using hand and power tools commonly used in truss assembly, such as saws, nail guns, drills, and measuring tools
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and work
- Strong focus on precision and accuracy when measuring, cutting, and assembling truss components
- Keen eye for identifying defects or errors in the assembly process
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting, carrying, and positioning lumber and truss components
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, physically active environment
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members and follow instructions
- Ability to work independently when required and contribute positively to a team-oriented environment
- Commitment to maintaining a safe work environment by adhering to safety guidelines, using personal protective equipment (PPE), and reporting any potential hazards or incidents
- Strong organizational skills to prioritize tasks, meet production deadlines, and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including overtime, to accommodate production needs or project deadlines
- Ability to occasionally stand; walk; sit; use hands to type, handle or feel objects
- Ability to reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance, stoop, kneel or crouch
- Ability to occasionally lift products weighing up to approximately 100 pounds
- Specific vision and hearing abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, the ability to adjust focus and hear well enough to communicate with customers and co-workers
