Job Summary
Perform advanced diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs on diesel engines and related systems while conducting routine maintenance and inspections. Oversee and mentor Level I mechanics and apprentices, providing training and support to improve overall shop efficiency. Lead the identification and resolution of mechanical issues, maintain detailed records of repairs and parts used, and ensure the work area remains safe and organized. Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance repair processes and team performance. Requires Level II certification, 2-5 years of diesel mechanic experience, and proficiency in diesel engines, fuel systems, and hydraulics. Valid driver's license with CDL preferred.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 2-5 years of experience as a diesel mechanic
- Level II certification in diesel mechanics or equivalent experience
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, fuel systems, electrical systems, and hydraulics
- Proficient in using diagnostic tools and equipment
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong leadership skills
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including climbing, standing, sitting, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crawling, and crouching
- Ability to lift heavy equipment up to 80 lbs
- Ability to stand, bend, and kneel for extended periods
