Job Summary
Read job orders and diagnose malfunctions in electric, diesel, and gasoline vocational trucks by observing and listening to equipment operation. Install ignition systems, align wheels, replace batteries and transmissions, and fabricate special lifting or towing attachments per schematic drawings. Perform collision repair, sand, prep, and paint, while completing standard maintenance to ensure state inspection requirements are met. Lubricate vehicles, adjust safety devices, and adhere strictly to OSHA and H&K safety policies. Work a 1st or 2nd shift schedule with hours regularly exceeding 40 per week, utilizing appropriate PPE in a loud environment that may include outdoor conditions.
Required Qualifications
- One-year certificate from an accredited college or technical school in diesel mechanics or a related field OR 2 years of related experience and/or training
- Class A or B CDL or ability to obtain within one year
- Clean driving record
- Willing and able to work a 1st or 2nd shift schedule
- Ability to fit test & utilize appropriate PPE as needed
- Ability to meet physical requirements (movement, lifting, as relevant to job)
- Occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, talk, hear, climb, balance, and crawl
- Frequently required to Stoop, crouch, kneel
- Use hands to finger, feel, and grasp
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds
- At times required to work outdoors in all environments
- Hours regularly exceed 40 in a week and 8 in a day
Desired Qualifications
- 4 years of related experience and/or training
- State Inspection license
- Experience working in heavy civil construction, road construction, or quarries
- OSHA, MSHA, or other relevant safety certifications
