Job Summary
Truck Driver at Steel Technologies operates a heavy-capacity commercial truck to transport freight between Steel Technologies’ locations, from suppliers and to customers. Responsibilities include pre-trip inspections, reporting vehicle defects or accidents, maneuvering tractors-trailers, securing cargo, inspecting loading equipment, maintaining required paperwork, and following a predetermined pickup/delivery schedule. Must hold a Class A CDL with two years’ driving experience, comply with DOT/FMCSR and state laws, and be able to operate a tractor-trailer for up to 10 hours with the ability to lift up to 50 pounds; benefits offered include medical/dental/vision after 60 days, 401(k), paid time off, tuition assistance, and career advancement opportunities.
Required Qualifications
- Class A CDL License
- Two years of driving experience
- Knowledge of and ability to comply with all DOT and FMCSR requirements as well as applicable state laws
- Ability to operate a clutch pedal
- Ability to operate a tractor trailer for up to 10 consecutive hours
- Ability to climb on and off the semi-trailer as needed
- Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently up to 25 pounds, and occasionally up to 50 pounds
