Job Summary
Evening shift truck driver for the National Diabetes Trust. Drive established routes to collect donated clothing and household items from customers' homes and designated donation bins, and deliver to corporate partners and storage facilities. Up to 29 hours per week with a consistent schedule. Responsibilities include promoting the organization's mission, conducting pre- and post-trip inspections, submitting daily paperwork and logs, maintaining required documentation (license, registration, vehicle inspection, Hours of Service), logging pickups, unloading received items, and coordinating with dispatch. Requires strong maps/navigation skills, good English communication, customer service orientation, and the ability to operate a 3-Ton (16-foot) straight truck. Must hold Full Class 5 and/or G license and have substantial driving experience, with clean driving record. Compliance with safety regulations and company procedures is essential.
Required Qualifications
- Grade 12 Education or equivalent
- Must have Full Class 5 and/or G license or higher (passenger car or light truck)
- Must have a minimum of 5 years actual driving experience at the above level (2 years if professional commercial vehicle training)
- Must have a clean driver abstract, less than 21 days old, with no violations or accidents within the last 3 years
- Ability to read maps
- Strong organizational skills; ability to map routes for efficient pickup
- Ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of people
- Ability to provide calm assistance to upset clients
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
