Job Summary
Hook and unhook trailers, inspect vehicles for defects, and submit daily condition reports. Check shipping paperwork to determine load nature, drive to destinations complying with Federal and State regulations, and maneuver in heavy traffic or inclement weather. Maintain compliance records including driver logs, fuel purchases, and mileage, while ensuring all shipping documentation accompanies shipments. Promptly report accidents, highway hazards, and delays due to breakdowns or weather. Submit written reports of truck/trailer conditions at the end of each day or upon equipment switching.
Required Qualifications
- One-year verifiable tractor-trailer experience/and or verifiable straight truck experience
- six months of experience with a commercial driver's license (CDL) school certification
- Applicants must be at least 21 years of age or older
- Ability to read, write, and interpret the English language sufficient to communicate with law enforcement, and company personnel
- Ability to interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- working knowledge of vehicle safety control systems
- Ability to perform simple math calculations with mental ability to handle receipts, maintain logs, read road maps and instructions
- common sense understanding standards set forth by the US Department of Transportation
- knowledge of DOT regulations governing safe driving, hours of service, and inspection maintenance
- Must meet the requirements set forth regarding reference checks, driving records and company policy procedures
- Must possess a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A or B
- Must be able to pass a Federal DOT Drug Screen, Breath Alcohol Test and Physical
