Job Summary
Operate semi-trucks, flatbed trailers, hot shot pickups, and gooseneck trailers to transport structural steel, pipe, and other long or irregularly shaped materials to jobsites and customer locations. Properly secure loads using chains, binders, straps, and edge protection while performing pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles and cargo. Monitor load securement throughout each trip, maintain accurate logs and delivery paperwork, and communicate professionally with dispatch and jobsite personnel. Follow DOT regulations, cargo-securement requirements, and company safety procedures, reporting equipment concerns or unsafe conditions promptly. Primarily local or regional routes with drivers home every night; no regularly scheduled weekends.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License
- Experience operating semi-trucks and flatbed trailers
- Ability to complete the physical duties associated with flatbed work, including climbing, bending and handling securement equipment
- Dependable, safety-focused and comfortable working independently
- Acceptable driving and safety record
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with hot shot pickups and gooseneck trailers
- Experience hauling steel, pipe, logs or similar materials
- Strong knowledge of load securement and weight distribution
- Current HazMat endorsement
