Truancy Mediator

Job Summary
Mediates truancy issues by meeting with students and families, consulting with school staff, and supporting school social workers to identify barriers to attendance and develop fair, non-adversarial solutions. The role involves conducting mediation sessions, guiding all parties toward mutually acceptable attendance interventions, preparing written summaries for signatures, maintaining confidentiality, evaluating needs, and leveraging community resources to mitigate unexcused absences. Requires a Master’s degree in a relevant field and a minimum of three years’ experience (five years preferred). The position reports to the Executive Director of Student Support Services and is based on-site at Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools under NC state and local policies.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in school social work, school administration, school counseling or school psychology required
- Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in school social work, administration or counseling required; five (5) years preferred
- Equivalent combination of education and experience
