Job Summary
The Trip Pilot is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the vessel and its tow, ensuring safe navigation and compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. Key duties include operational management, bridge administration, crew supervision, and maintaining professional relationships with charterers. Required qualifications include a valid U.S. Merchant Mariner’s document, STCW certification, and the appropriate U.S.C.G. license for the vessel type. Additional skills such as English proficiency and a preferred knowledge of Spanish are also necessary.
Required Qualifications
- Valid driver’s license and TWIC card
- U.S. Merchant Mariner’s document
- STCW training and certification booklet
- Proper license by the U.S.C.G. for the type, tonnage, route and service of the vessel
- FCC Marine Radio Operators Permit
Desired Qualifications
- Ability to read and write in Spanish (preferred)
- Strong communication skills
Additional Requirements
- Must possess a U.S. Merchant Mariner’s document
- Must possess the proper license by the U.S.C.G.
