Trimmer/Climber (All Levels) - UVM

Job Summary
Perform vegetation management and tree trimming activities in proximity to energized electrical systems while maintaining safe working distances from conductors. Execute climbing, rigging, and ground support duties across rights-of-way, roadways, and remote locations using chainsaws, chippers, and specialized equipment. Collaborate with Forepersons and crew members to complete line clearance work efficiently, adhere to strict safety protocols, and manage work zones. Progress through entry-level assistance, intermediate climbing, and advanced independent operations while completing required skills assessments and training programs. Travel extensively up to 80% of the time, including overnight assignments, in a fast-paced field environment.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- CPR and First Aid Certification
- Valid Driver's License
- Groundperson Training
- Line Clearance Qualification Program (LCQP)
- Annual Aerial Rescue Training
- Tree Feller Training
- Bucket Operator Training
Desired Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Entry-level; foundational tree or outdoor work experience preferred
- Minimum 6 months of tree climbing and utility vegetation management experience
- Minimum 12 months of utility line clearance experience with demonstrated climbing and rigging proficiency
- Line Clearance Qualified Arborist or Line Clearance Qualified Professional (LCQP/LQA)
- Prior utility vegetation management or arboricultural experience
- Experience working in traffic control or roadside right-of-way environments
- Familiarity with OSHA, ANSI Z133, and utility safety standards
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively, including to remote locations
