Job Summary
Manage patient calls and questions by prioritizing requests based on severity, deciding appropriate actions, and executing plans such as scheduling appointments or calling in prescriptions. Act as an information desk by providing directions, scheduling return visits, and monitoring the NextGen task basket to process pharmacy requests and obtain authorizations. Document all activities in patient records, follow up on outside lab reports, and handle doctor-to-doctor and doctor-to-patient communications. Monitor schedules for cancellations and reschedule patients as requested by physicians. Maintain compliance with the Ohio State Pharmacy Board by keeping an accurate sample drug log.
Required Qualifications
- High school graduate
- Computer experience
- At least one year of ophthalmic/optometric medical office experience
- Extensive ophthalmic/optometric experience
- OSC or higher licensure
- Dependable
- Access to dependable transportation
- Driving record that meets company liability carrier standards
- Good working knowledge of Word
- Good working knowledge of Excel
- Good working knowledge of Access
