Triage Registered Nurse

Job Summary
Respond to and triage telephone calls regarding patient needs, conducting assessments and providing safe care instructions or directing patients to appropriate care levels. Deliver education to patients and families on symptom management, disease progression, and medication while updating the interdisciplinary team and attending physicians on patient status. Maintain complete records of communications in the Electronic Medical Record, fax or call prescriptions per physician orders, and coordinate volunteer deliveries. Adhere to Wisconsin Administrative Code standards, local, state, and federal laws, and mandatory training requirements. Maintain regular attendance and share in seven days-a-week coverage, including weekend shifts from home every fourth weekend.
Required Qualifications
- Current unrestricted Registered Nurse licensure from the State of Wisconsin
- Minimum of two years' experience as a professional nurse
- Associate degree in Nursing
- RN license in the state of practice
- Valid WI Drivers' License
- reliable transportation
- proof of current automobile insurance coverage
- Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m.
- Weekend coverage every fourth weekend from 7:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m.
- weekday hours adjusted accordingly to maintain a 40-hour workweek
- Weekend shifts may be worked from home
- approximately 2–3 holidays per year
- Abide by Standards of Nursing Practice as outlined in Wisconsin Administrative Code
- Comply with all applicable local, state and federal laws and regulations
- policies and procedures of Unity
- Satisfy mandatory training requirements regarding local, state and federal regulations and/or Unity's policies and procedures
- Maintain regular and reliable attendance
- Shares in providing seven days-a-week coverage
