Job Summary
Tree Trimmer responsible for pruning and removing trees, limbs and shrubs near power lines, using climbing and ground-based tools, operating equipment like powered trimmer lifts, and ensuring safety around energized conductors. Duties include loading materials, trimming, felling, rigging, applying herbicides, maintaining records, conducting vehicle and equipment inspections, and supervising non-qualified employees when qualified. Requires knowledge of ANSI Z133.1 and ANSI A300 standards, OSHA safety practices, and the ability to work long hours including overtime during emergencies.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 months of experience working on tree trimming or clearing crews or successful completion of applicable skills assessments
- High School diploma or equivalent preferred, but not required
- Valid First-Aid and CPR cards or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire
- Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver’s or commercial driver’s license (depending on division and requirements) and DOT medical card in accordance with FMCSA regulations
