Job Summary
Tree Trimmer role involving pruning/removal of trees, limbs, and shrubs near energized power lines; uses climbing equipment (powered trimmer lift, safety belt, climbing line, ladder) and ground tools (hand saws, pruners) to cut branches, load equipment, and perform basic tree maintenance; conducts tasks around hazards and near live conductors under supervision; may supervise non-qualified employees after qualification; applies herbicides and growth regulators, maintains records, adheres to OSHA regulations and ANSI standards (Z133.1, A300); performs vehicle/equipment inspections and routine maintenance; communicates with property owners and emergency personnel when blocking streets or driveways; capable of overtime during emergencies and travel for deployments; prefers high school diploma or equivalent; requires First-Aid and CPR certification or ability to obtain within 90 days; may need CDL and DOT medical card depending on division; bilingual English/Spanish abilities noted in language requirements.
Required Qualifications
- minimum 3 months of experience in tree trimming or clearing crews OR successful completion of applicable skills assessments
- High School diploma or equivalent preferred, but not required
- Must have valid First-Aid and CPR cards or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire
- Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver’s or commercial driver’s license (DOT depending on division)
