Job Summary
Treatment Assistant providing patient-centered care in a 24-hour residential treatment facility, working with the Milieu Supervisor, counselors, and staff to maintain a safe, supportive environment. Responsibilities include de-escalation, observing and reporting behavioral changes, assisting with vital signs and medication-related tasks alongside nursing staff, administering and documenting urine drug screens, coordinating residents’ activities, recording pertinent information, handling clerical duties, ensuring privacy and confidentiality per HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2, supporting discharge or self-sufficiency plans, attending trainings, and participating in team meetings. Role runs Tue-Sat 2:45 PM–11:15 PM at 1616 E Burnside St, Portland, OR. Union-represented AFSCME position with comprehensive benefits and a strong focus on recovery and client dignity.
Required Qualifications
- HSD/GED AND one (1) year of work experience in a related field (e.g. shelter, residential or day treatment, counseling, substance abuse treatment); OR
- HSD/GED AND two (2) years of in-person, high-volume customer service experience or two (2) years of volunteer experience in a related field which would be considered half-credit (e.g. 4 years of customer service in a non-medical office setting would be considered 2 years credit; 2 years volunteer in related field is considered 1 year); OR
- Associate’s degree in Social Services, Behavioral Health, Human Services, Psychology, or a related field; OR
- Bachelor’s degree in any field.
- Must meet CCC privileging requirements as required by FTCA.
- Knowledge of Twelve-Step Recovery process.
- Have, or able to obtain, Adult CPR prior to start date.
- Must have current Adult First Aid Certification prior to start date.
- Must adhere to Drug-Free Workplace Act of 1988.
- If required to drive, must pass a DMV background check and be designated an acceptable driver.
- Must pass initial driver’s training within 60 days of being an approved driver and continued recertification training.
- Must generally have the ability to walk, bend, stoop, kneel, squat, twist, reach, pull and lift heavy objects, and climb stairs with reasonable or no accommodation.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen, TB test, and background check.
- Adhere to HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2, and CCC confidentiality policies.
