Job Summary
Set up the Treater per established parameters and recipes during start-up, changeover, and shutdown operations. Make adjustments to maintain physical and cosmetic performance of treated materials while ensuring maximum machine uptime and product yields. Move varnishes and solvents between mix rooms and treaters, verify correct raw materials per Work Order BOM, and conduct required product tests for weight, flow, viscosity, and volatile content. Collaborate with Quality Assurance to ensure materials conform to internal and industry standards, handle chemicals properly, and respond to spills. Document all downtime, stoppages, and paperwork, assist in preventive maintenance, and cross-train in other areas. Perform SAP transactions and use Lean/Six Sigma methodologies to improve processes. Work within ISO, EICC, and OSHA standards while maintaining cleanliness and supporting timely shipments.
Required Qualifications
- Fork lift license
- High School diploma or GED
- Ability to pass pulmonary function test
- Ability to work in a fast-pace environment and multi-task
- Ability to work effectively under pressure
- Ability to work effectively with people at all levels within the organization
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and verbal communication
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
- Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
- Previous experience with complex/continuous machine operation
- Previous experience using a PC
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees
- Ability to lift, pull or push up to 50 pounds
- Ability to stand up to 10 hours per shift
- Ability to bend, reach, and grasp frequently
