Job Summary

Conduct initial intake, assessments, and treatment planning for individuals enrolled in PROS, HCBS, and CORE programs. Deliver individual, joint, or group counseling while managing case referrals, advocacy, and crisis interventions. Document all sessions, coordinate interdisciplinary team meetings, and serve as a liaison with external agencies. Maintain accurate progress notes, perform periodic evaluations, and complete discharge paperwork within regulatory requirements. Act as an advocate for families and legal support, presenting in-service training on expertise areas.

Required Qualifications

  • Comprehensive knowledge of mental health and the Psychiatric Rehabilitation Model
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Must be self-directed and self-motivated
  • Must possess a strong understanding of the person-centered approach and possess knowledge of or ability to learn the philosophy of empowerment
  • Must be well organized
  • Demonstrate the ability to manage time effectively
  • Demonstrate ability to maintain accurate records
  • Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate with individuals, families, clinicians and others involved in the provision of mental health services and community supports
  • Willingness and interest in providing direct service to those diagnosed with Severe and Persistently Mental Illness
  • Valid driver's license
  • Acceptable driving record according to guidelines established by The Resource Center's insurance carrier or equivalent accommodations
  • Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the job
  • Must successfully complete a Drug Screen
  • Must successfully complete a Criminal Background Check
  • Must be cleared through NYS Justice Center
  • Professional clinical staff qualification (qualified by credential, training and experience to provide supervision and direct service related to the care or treatment of persons with a designated mental health diagnosis)
  • Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) OR Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) OR Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) OR Licensed Psychoanalyst OR Licensed Creative Arts Therapist (LCAT) OR Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) OR Licensed Clinical Social Worker- R (LCSW-R) OR Nurse Practitioner OR Psychologist OR Registered Professional Nurse OR Physician Assistant
  • Two (2) years' experience working with the severely and persistently mentally ill (for Lead Therapist role)
  • Currently licensed as a mental health counselor by the New York State Education Department (for LMHC)
  • Currently licensed as a marriage and family therapist by the New York State Education Department (for LMFT)
  • Currently licensed as a master social worker by the New York State Education Department and is supervised by an LCSW, licensed psychologist, or psychiatrist employed by the agency (for LMSW)
  • Currently licensed as a psychoanalyst by the New York State Education Department (for Psychoanalyst)
  • Currently licensed as a creative arts therapist by the New York State Education Department, or has a master's degree in a mental health field from a program approved by the New York State Education Department, and registration or certification by the American Art Therapy Association, American Dance Therapy Association, National Association of Music Therapy or American Association for Music Therapy (for LCAT)
  • Currently licensed as a clinical social worker (LCSW) by the New York State Education Department (for LCSW)
  • Currently licensed as a clinical social worker (LCSW-R) by the New York State Education Department (for LCSW-R)
  • Currently certified as a nurse practitioner by the New York State Education Department (for Nurse Practitioner)
  • Currently licensed as a psychologist by the New York State Education Department (for Psychologist)
  • Currently licensed as a registered professional nurse by the New York State Education Department (for Registered Professional Nurse)
  • Currently registered as a physician assistant or a specialist's assistant by the New York State Education Department (for Physician Assistant)
