Job Summary
Traveling Superintendent/Foreman (Foundations) oversees on-site activities for foundations projects, directing lead personnel, coordinating with general superintendents, subcontractors, and equipment needs while maintaining safety, quality, and schedule. Responsibilities include daily site communications, scheduling subcontractors, ensuring compliance with safety procedures, conducting daily hazard awareness and toolbox talks, maintaining records, supervising field personnel, participating in pre-construction and site meetings, and providing timely documentation on safety issues, equipment, and injuries. The role requires extensive experience with deep foundation systems (piledriving, micropiles, caisson, helical piles), foundation/ground improvement equipment, ability to read and interpret construction documents, strong communication and leadership skills, and willingness to travel up to 50% in the upper Midwest; union affiliation or willingness to join is required.
Required Qualifications
- Five years of experience overseeing a crew responsible for installation of deep foundation systems
- Experience installing and/or overseeing piledriving, micropiles, caisson, and helical piles
- 5+ years’ experience with foundation/ground improvement equipment (drills, concrete pumps, batch plants)
- OSHA 30-hour
- HAZWOPER certificate
- Excavating Safety Training
- Blueprint Training
- CPR
- First Aid
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret policies, reports, construction plans, construction specifications, and legal documents
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, iPad and iPhone
- Ability to communicate and schedule project needs appropriately
- Must have good interpersonal skill and be able to speak effectively before groups as well as individuals
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts
- Ability to apply fractions, percentages ratios, and proportions to field quantities
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
- Ability to interpret extensive technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form
- Must be able to pass pre-employment drug test
- Must be able to work 8 to 10-hour days, Monday through Friday, with occasional weekends
- 50% travel within the upper Midwest region
- Must be over 18
- Union affiliation or willingness to join the union
