Job Summary
Traveling Pump Specialist-inspect, disassemble, repair, overhaul, test, and troubleshoot centrifugal, positive displacement, vertical, and specialty pumps at nuclear and fossil power facilities. Performs field and shop-based mechanical work during outages and maintenance projects, reads engineering drawings and specs, conducts shaft alignment and precision measurements, and supports upgrades and reliability improvements while complying with safety, regulatory, and site requirements. Requires willingness to travel nationwide to nuclear facilities, with per diem/travel benefits, and potential consideration for Senior Pump Specialist based on experience.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Technical school, vocational training, military mechanical training, or related education preferred
- Minimum three (3) years of experience in pump maintenance, rotating equipment repair, industrial maintenance, power generation, or related mechanical trades
- Experience with pump disassembly, repair, inspection, and reassembly
- Experience performing shaft alignment and precision measurements
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, maintenance procedures, and work instructions
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team environment
- Valid driver's license with satisfactory driving record
