Job Summary
Traveling Optical Assistant in Pennsylvania for a full-time two-person team with an optometrist in nursing home settings. Responsibilities include professional communication with the optometrist, in-house staff, facility partners, patients and families; accurate data entry in the record system; acting as a virtual assistant when not in-person; arriving 30 minutes prior to the optometrist’s arrival to set up; equipment sterilization and setup; maintaining HIPAA standards; overseeing patient relations and coordinating patient flow; assisting with travel throughout PA; and demonstrating ability to retain concepts during the initial 30-day training period.
Required Qualifications
- Comfort traveling alone and staying overnights when required
- Ability to work independently
- Experience with the pretesting process, collecting medical history, medication list, chief complaints, checking IPOs, measuring current glasses using a lensometer, measuring visual acuities and EOMs, and assessing confrontation fields and pupils
- Strong computer and typing skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and a patient-driven attitude
- Reliable transportation that can support weekly travel at varying distances
