Traveling Mechanic

Job Summary

Repair and maintain utility construction equipment such as derricks, shovels, tractors, excavators, and heavy trucks by dismantling, reassembling, and diagnosing faults using diagnostic equipment and technical drawings. Overhaul mobile mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems while replacing damaged parts and performing routine maintenance like cleaning and lubrication. Test repaired equipment to ensure compliance with manufacturer specifications and safety regulations. Travel nationwide up to 100% of the time, requiring a valid Class A Commercial Driver License and willingness to work long hours.

Required Qualifications

  • Willingness to travel nationwide
  • 2-5 years of unsupervised heavy equipment mechanic experience
  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver License
  • Compliance with OSHA and other Federal, State, and local safety regulations
  • Valid DOT Medical Certification
  • Ability to work long hours and move/lift at least 50 lbs
  • Pass pre-employment and other drug screening requirements

Desired Qualifications

  • Fabrication and welding experience preferred
  • Heavy equipment mechanic certification preferred

Additional Requirements

  • Willingness to travel nationwide
