Job Summary
Conduct repairs and maintain major cable systems and structures, including replacing cable strands, performing pole transfers, and executing aerial-to-underground conversions. Read work orders and engineering drawings to determine task sequences, then perform construction duties such as digging holes, climbing poles, and stringing wire or laying cable. Operate power equipment like hydraulic aerial lifts and check for gas in manholes while dismantling or connecting hardware to terminals. Respond to emergency outages and ensure all work adheres to safety standards and governmental orders. Complete daily production reports and As-Built documentation. Work outdoors in inclement weather with a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call rotations.
Required Qualifications
- Must have a valid driver's license and transportation
- Extensive knowledge of approved practices, procedures, tools, and materials used in telecom line construction work
- Pass a pre-employment drug test and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR)
- Required to lift moderately heavy equipment, such as telephone line; climb structures; and stand for long periods of time
- Knowledge of first aid procedures and CPR
- Ability to apply mathematics calculations (Example: fractions for use in drilling and pole sizing; calculating material and hardware length for assembling several pieces of equipment to poles of different thickness and circumferences.)
- Ability to work in a confined space and at high elevations (poles, hydraulic lift buckets, ladders.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule to include nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call as needed
- Ability to apply logical principles and thinking to solve problems and make decisions
- Willing to perform work to support the values and goals of the Company

- Must be able to maintain visual and audible contact with other crewman and all moving or stationary persons/vehicles/objects to ensure safe coordination of movement
- All work is outdoors, subject to inclement weather conditions
- Working in confined spaces
- Push, pull, reach, and carry objects such as tools, materials, and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs
- Load and unload tools and equipment on the truck
- Vision, including depth perception, close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus
- Must be able to maintain visual and audible contact with other crewman and all moving or stationary persons/vehicles/objects to ensure safe coordination of movement
