Job Summary
Conduct oversight, safety, and qualification evaluations for helicopter and fixed-wing pilots undergoing training and flight checks. Perform initial and recurrent ground and flight training, including instrument, night vision goggle, and transition courses. Correct and report out-of-compliance issues immediately or coordinate with appropriate directors for resolution. Operate advanced aviation training devices and full motion simulators as required. Assist in developing flight and ground training schedules, implementing standardized procedures, and managing pilot record keeping in accordance with FARs. Submit required reports timely and develop aircraft checklists and pilot training programs. Maintain regular scheduled attendance while indicating travel percentages for centralized or decentralized operations.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Three to five years related experience and/or training
- Equivalent combination of education and experience
- Commercial/Instrument rating
- Must meet total flight hour requirements
- CFI / CFII (Rotor wing)
- Willingness to obtain CFI / CFII (Rotor wing) within one year
- Regular scheduled attendance
- Indication of percentage of time spent traveling (centralized)
- Indication of percentage of time spent traveling (decentralized)
- Subject to applicable laws and Air Methods' policies, regular attendance is an essential function of the position
- All employees must follow Air Methods' employment practices and policies
- Subject to drug and/or alcohol testing per the DOT/FAA requirements (pre-employment, random, reasonable cause/suspicion, post-accident)
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- Recommendation from a current Air Methods Flight Instructor or Check Airman preferred
- Previous Instructor/Check Airman experience
- ATP rating in aircraft category preferred
