Job Summary
Traveling HVAC Commissioning Technician responsible for startup, commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting of commercial HVAC systems on new construction and retrofit projects, focusing on rooftop units (RTUs) and split systems. Verify proper installation, wiring, airflow, and refrigerant charge; ensure equipment operates according to manufacturer specifications; conduct functional performance testing and diagnose electrical, refrigeration, and airflow-related issues during startup. Verify operation of economizers, dampers, sensors, and system controls; collaborate with controls technicians and BAS teams to verify proper system integration. Complete commissioning reports, startup documentation, and system checklists and record performance data. Communicate installation issues to project teams. Requires 3+ years of HVAC experience or commissioning/servicing, EPA certification preferred, valid driver’s license, and willingness to travel. Base pay up to $40/hour with consistent overtime (~55 hours/week); typical weekly earnings around $2,500; annual earnings potential $115K–$130K+. Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of commercial HVAC experience OR experience performing HVAC commissioning or commercial service work
- Experience working with commercial rooftop units (RTUs)
- Ability to troubleshoot electrical, refrigeration, and airflow issues
- Ability to read mechanical drawings and wiring diagrams
- EPA Certification preferred
- Valid driver’s license
- Willingness to travel for project assignments
