Traveling Fiber Drop Technician

Job Summary
Select routes and place/bury drops for residential fiber plant, operating equipment to install buried drops and performing yard and landscaping restoration. Perform aerial drop work by climbing ladders up to 35 feet, secure necessary locates through the 1-call system, and document construction while providing daily and weekly production reports. Operate and monitor company-owned vehicles and trailers, including pulling loaded equipment and performing general maintenance, while enforcing safety regulations. Work solo or with a team to efficiently complete tasks in varying environments, lifting up to 100 pounds and working outdoors in extreme weather. This role requires full travel throughout ALLO markets, including overnight stays, with flexibility to work evenings and weekends.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must be minimum 21 yrs of age
- DOT requirement to cross state lines
- Ability to maintain a valid driver's license
- Ability to operate a company vehicle
- Ability to pull a trailer with equipment loaded on it
- Includes hooking up and backing up
- Able to do general maintenance for vehicle and trailers
- Work DOT inspection sheet and obtain DOT physical
- Keep truck and trailer clean and organized
- Work power tools
- Climb ladder up to 35'
- Run heavy walk behind machinery
- Read a measuring tape
- Utilize personal cell phone for business purposes
- Work solo or with a team
- Work with small items i.e., splice ends, snips and cleavers
- Be punctual and ready to work
- Ability to drive a lift truck
- Raise objects up to 100 lbs
- Remain upright on feet for extended periods
- Ability to communicate information
- Ability to crouch and crawl
- Ability to bend, kneel, stand
- Ability to ascend/descend ladder
- Ability to carry tools and equipment
- Ability to operate a computer

- 100% travel requirement
- Must be able to lift 100 pounds
- Ability to travel throughout ALLO markets as required
- This can include overnight and extended stays
- Ability to work evenings and weekends
- Ability to travel outside of the home office area for extended periods of time based on project and business need
- Must be able to effectively lead and coach others
Desired Qualifications
- Preferred physical labor experience
- Thorough knowledge of ALLO construction procedures
- Ability to gain knowledge of fiber construction and material
- Basic knowledge of Excel, Microsoft Word and the ability to learn Smartsheets
- Ability to communicate with internal and external customers, contractors and company employees
- Ability to drive a lift truck (preferred not required)
