Job Summary
Conduct daily site operations including scheduling, production, and procurement of materials, manpower, and equipment. Supervise all direct labor positions and oversee contracted work to ensure successful project completion. Study specifications to plan procedures based on staffing requirements and building methods. Coordinate pre-construction meetings with the Project Manager and develop "look ahead" schedules to assess progress. Direct procurement of tools and materials to conform to work schedules and inspect work in progress against specifications. Manage labor costs by moving personnel between projects and resolving grievances with labor representatives. Confers with subcontractors, engineers, and clients to address construction issues and update them on progress. Implement company policies for safety, quality, and housekeeping while preparing the Project Management Plan.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in construction management or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- 5+ years of experience in ground-up light industrial or commercial construction projects
- Demonstrated knowledge of construction processes
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to travel to and from the project site
- Understands and applies building codes and other design requirements correctly
- Ability to read blueprints accurately
- Good understanding and knowledge of subcontractors' scopes of work and tolerances
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to express ideas clearly and effectively
- Proper grammar and syntax
- Good administrative skills
- Good management skills
- Ability to establish techniques to effectively and proactively monitor and supervise the work of subordinates
- Ability to follow up on the results of delegated assignments
