Job Summary
Fit and assemble structural bridge components, read blueprints and WPS sheets to lay out beams and girders, and measure heavy steel to required tolerances. Operate Sub Arc and Flux Core welding equipment to weld structural assemblies, maintaining wire feed, voltage, and travel speed to ensure proper penetration and bead profile. Execute welds in compliance with AWS D1.5 Bridge Welding Code standards and pass on-site 3G FCAW weld tests subject to bend and X-ray inspection. Candidates must have welding experience in a bridge fabrication shop and consistently maintain quality meeting visual and NYS DOT requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Must have welding experience in a bridge fabrication shop
- Execute welds in compliance with AWS D1.5 Bridge Welding Code standards
- Ability to consistently maintain weld quality that meets visual and NYS DOT requirements
- Pass on-site 3G FCAW weld test subject to bend and X-ray inspection to meet NYS DOT requirements
