Travel Welder

Job Summary

Lay out, fit, fabricate, install, and construct metal components to assemble structural forms using welding techniques and engineering knowledge. Weld parts in flat, vertical, and overhead positions while evaluating engineering drawings to ensure implementation according to specifications. Perform efficient welding of various metal objects with assistance from forming and cutting equipment, and design new parts as required. Analyze diagrams, cut metal accordingly, and perform quality checks on finished products. Administer welding activities safely, enforce safety policies, and participate in behavior-based safety programs. Collaborate with co-workers on modification, repair, and insulation work while maintaining a safe work environment. Work any shift, including overtime and seven-day weeks, with travel to customer sites as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Welding skills and experience
  • Ability to read blueprints
  • Must be capable of working any shift, overtime, be on-call, or work seven days a week and travel to customer sites
  • Must be able to multiple tasks with a strong sense of urgency to meet the customer needs
  • Must be able to work well within a team environment and take instructions from management and co-workers
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently
  • Must possess the basic reading and math skills
  • Strong record of attendance reliability
  • Safety Oriented
  • Must be physically able to perform work assigned
  • Must be physically capable of accessing all plant locations including working at heights
  • Ability to consistently lift over 50 pounds as needed
