Job Summary
Conduct daily care for patients on telemetry monitoring at the 24-bed Medical/Surgical Cardiac Unit, managing those awaiting cardiac catheterization, surgical transfer, or diagnostic testing. Provide acute care nursing services for stroke patients using the NIH stroke scale. Maintain Virginia or Compact Multi-State licensure in good standing with current BLS certification. Requires two or more years of acute care hospital RN experience. This 14-week temporary full-time assignment includes a third (night) shift at Sentara CarePlex Hospital in Hampton, VA. The facility serves as a Certified Primary Stroke Center with specialized heart and vascular services.
Required Qualifications
- Virginia or Compact Multi-State License in good standing
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- NIH stroke scale
- Two or more years of current acute care hospital RN experience
- Education: Associates, Bachelors, Masters, or diploma in the Nursing Field
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
- Must be available for weekend shifts
- Must be able to travel
- Must be able to work nights
- Must be able to work third shift
- Must be able to work in Hampton, VA
- Must be able to work in a 24-bed Medical/Surgical Cardiac Unit
- Must be able to care for patients on telemetry monitoring
- Must be able to assist with cardiac cath
- Must be able to assist with transfer to the heart hospital for surgery
- Must be able to assist with diagnostic tests such as stress test or echocardiogram
- Must be able to work in a tobacco-free environment
