Job Summary
Assume responsibility for an assigned group of pediatric patients in the ICU, documenting responses to interventions and monitoring physiological data to intervene when necessary. Administer medications as prescribed, initiate and regulate intravenous infusions and blood products, and assist physicians in examinations and minor diagnostic procedures. Deliver competent patient care while interacting with families to share care plans and inform them of hospital procedures. Make referrals regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel and delegate tasks to support staff. Requires current Oklahoma RN license, BLS certification, and PALS within one year. 13-week assignment with 36 hours per week in 12-hour night shifts.
Required Qualifications
- Current RN License issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing, or a current multistate compact RN License (eNLC)
- Current Basic Life Support issued by the American Heart Association
- PALS (American Heart Association)
- Bachelor of Science (or higher) in Nursing Board Approved Program
- Graduate from an accredited school school of nursing
- Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques and procedures
- Ability to organize, plan, coordinate and evaluate nursing services and apply nursing techniques
- Ability to maintain good working relationships with other employees
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to respond effectively to cultural and language needs of patients and visitors
- Some computer skills
