Job Summary
Assess patients transferring from the operating room, monitor vital signs and consciousness levels, and administer prescribed medications per post-anesthesia protocols. Document assessments, interventions, and recovery progress in medical records while responding promptly to emergency situations using established PACU standards. Collaborate with the surgical team for comprehensive post-operative care, facilitate handoff communications to ensure continuity between units, and educate patients and families on discharge instructions. Operate PACU-specific equipment including ventilators and infusion pumps, and maintain awareness of patient comfort and safety needs throughout the 13-week assignment in Wilmington, North Carolina.
Required Qualifications
- One year of recent experience as a PACU RN
- Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations
- Current BLS (AHA/ARC) certification
- ACLS (AHA/ARC) certification
- Critical thinking
- Service excellence
- Good interpersonal communication skills
- The ability to read, write, and communicate in the English language
- Ability to read/comprehend written instructions
- Follow verbal instructions
- Proficiency in PC skills
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position
