Job Summary
Assess patients transferring from the operating room, monitor vital signs and recovery from anesthesia, and administer prescribed medications per post-anesthesia protocols. Respond promptly to emergency situations, document assessments and interventions in medical records, and collaborate with the surgical team for comprehensive post-operative care. Operate PACU-specific equipment including ventilators and infusion pumps while developing individualized discharge instructions for patients and families. Maintain patient comfort and safety during the critical recovery period, ensuring adherence to nursing standards and regulatory requirements.
Required Qualifications
- One year of recent experience as a PACU RN
- Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations
- Current BLS (AHA/ARC) certification
- ACLS (AHA/ARC) certification
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position
- Must be able to move about
- Must be able to move equipment (50-100lbs)
- Must be able to push
- Must be able to pull
- Must be able to bend
- Must be able to work effectively with a variety of personnel
- Must be able to present a positive attitude and professionalism
- Must have the ability to grasp
