Job Summary
Assess patients transferring from the operating room, monitor vital signs and levels of consciousness, and administer prescribed medications per post-anesthesia protocols. Maintain patient comfort and safety while documenting assessments, interventions, and recovery progress in medical records. Respond promptly to emergency situations, operate PACU-specific equipment, and collaborate with the surgical team for comprehensive post-operative care. Participate in patient handoff communications to ensure continuity between the OR, PACU, and post-PACU units. Develop individualized discharge instructions and recovery guidelines for patients and families.
Required Qualifications
- One year of recent experience as a PACU RN
- Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations
- Current BLS (AHA/ARC) certification
- ACLS (AHA/ARC) certification
- Critical thinking
- Service excellence
- Good interpersonal communication skills
- The ability to read, write, and communicate in the English language
- Ability to read/comprehend written instructions
- Follow verbal instructions
- Proficiency in PC skills
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position
