Job Summary
Assess patients transferring from the operating room, monitor vital signs and consciousness levels, and administer prescribed medications per post-anesthesia protocols. Respond promptly to emergency situations, document all assessments and interventions in medical records, and collaborate with the surgical team for comprehensive post-operative care. Operate PACU-specific equipment including ventilators and infusion pumps, while developing individualized discharge instructions for patients and families. Maintain patient comfort and safety during the critical recovery period, ensuring adherence to nursing standards and regulatory requirements.
Required Qualifications
- One year of recent experience as a PACU RN
- Valid RN license in compliance with state regulations
- Current BLS (AHA/ARC) certification
- ACLS (AHA/ARC) certification
- Critical thinking
- Service excellence
- Good interpersonal communication skills
- The ability to read, write, and communicate in the English language
- Ability to read/comprehend written instructions
- Follow verbal instructions
- Proficiency in PC skills
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position
